Sixth day of Navaratri: Katyayani Devi

Katyayani Devi

The sixth day of Navaratri: Katyayani Devi is the daughter of father Katya, a devoted sage who did rigorous penance in order to have Durga as his daughter. Katyayani Devi rides a lion too, She was called to finally get rid of the big demon Mahishasura, that was causing big havoc. She is also known as Mahishasuramardini, the slayer of this demon. There is a famous stotra called “Mahishasura Mardini” available online, to listen with lyrics.

The fierce form of the Divine Mother Katyayani, whom we call upon to destroy our demons, both internal and external obstacles, is the link to attain material and spiritual success. •~

We can wear any yellow or orange color clothing on this day. Her mantra is Om Devi Katyayanyai Namah.

Have a blissful Navaratri!
